Like most of our nation we are honoring and remembering the heros and victims of the 9/11 WTC attacks today. The news coverage and articles today got me thinking if there were any efforts done to recycle any of the wreckage. I found numerous articles related to recycling the remains of the WTC. I was ecstatic to find out in the Sacramento Bee that 7.5 tons of steel was recycled from the WTC to make the USS New York.

The USS New York is an amphibious transport dock steeped in symbolism from the 9/11 attacks. Its motto is “Strength forged through sacrifice. Never forget.” It is so amazing that something that was taken away from us so tragically is recycled into a ship used to defend our country in the US military. The USS New York symbolizes our nations courage and resilience.

Now imagine if everyone thought of a new way to reduce humans carbon foot print on this planet. After reading this article in the Huffington Post I was inspired to do more to save our planet. How awesome is it that that a 12 year old originally thought of the idea of the green shield and made it a reality before he was 18 years old. The Green Shield is a ski jump shaped hat installed on the roofs of buses that improves fuel economy 10-20%. Reading articles like this remind me that there is hope for our future and not all teen and tweens are lost in video games. Now how do we get more kids to take summer classes at Northwestern University?

Cash Crop Tee Shirts

Organic Cotton shirt from Cash Crop Clothing

Not Only are Cash Crop tee shirts comfortable and stylish they are eco friendly too! In 2010 Cash Crop collaborated with Grocery Tees in Los Angeles to make an ECO-Concious tee shirt. Currently cash crop carires three styles: Crew neck, V-neck, and a Crew neck tee with a pocket. All tee shirts come in several color variations.

Also all tee shirts are made of 40% Organic Cotton and 60% Hemp and all Tees are dyed with low impact dyes-/G.O.T.S=Certified Organic Dye Process (Low impact dyes require less water and do not contain heavy metals or chemical mordants found in most conventional dyes. Dye and rinse water are recycled when possible and disposed responsibly.) Our tees are just one of the many items we make that reduces our carbon foot print in the garment industry.
